Mission:
The purpose of the Newtonbrook's Recreational Hockey Club(NWHC) is the development of women’s ice hockey as a recreational sport, in the spirit of fellowship and fair play. In order to be eligible for this league, women must be at least 20 years of age.
Our House League Hockey provides our participants with the opportunity to enjoy the game of hockey in a fun and relaxed setting. The games are competitive, but what we emphasize is the enjoyment value of the competition.
With the help of a group of dedicated volunteers, running the league, we offer a welcoming environment for women trying hockey for the first time and those already consider themselves "the next Great ONE".
Our History:
Newtonbrook Women's Hockey Club was started 30 years ago by Mrs Easton. It was a recreational league based in the North York area and played out of grand ravine arena. Competitive teams were formed about 20 years ago and they played in the north metro womens hockey league - at the start there was senior B and C and eventually senior AA, A, B and C. 4 years ago we had 4 competitive and 12 recreational teams. 3 of the recreational teams have moved on to competitive B and C in the Golden Blades womens hockey league. As of 2010 there are 8 recreational teams and 2 competitive teams.
